BYLAWS OF THE CENTER FOR SOCIETY AND CYBERSTUDIES
ARTICLE ONE – ORGANIZATION
1.) The name of this non-profit organization shall be The Center for Society and Cyberstudies
2.) The organization shall have a seal which shall be in the form of a press with The Center for Society and Cyberstudies name in the middle of the seal.
3.) The organization may at its pleasure by a vote of the membership body change its name.
ARTICLE TWO – PURPOSE
The following are the purposes for which this organization has been organized:
1.) The Center for Society and Cyberstudies is founded as a non-profit educational resource for the observation, recording and analysis of cyber crime and e-culture phenomena. The Center's main function was to create awareness in how "e-crime" and "e-culture" would crossover into the real world and what impact that crossover would have.
2.) The current purpose of the center is a broader academic analysis of the arena of cyberculture, while including the references to the history of the field.
ARTICLE THREE – MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the organization shall be determined in this manner:
1.) The Director for the Center for Society and Cyberstudies shall be elected every three years by the Senior Fellows in the Center for Society and Cyberstudies. The election will occur during the annual business meeting. The duties of the directors include, but are not limited too;
- Running the annual business meeting,
- Appointing new Senior Fellows when openings occur,
- Appointing new Fellows as need be,
- Writing for the Website.
2.) Senior Fellows in the Center for the Society and Cyberstudies shall be granted this title by appointment from the director or by election during the annual business meeting. There can be up to six fellows holding the title of Senior Fellow. This number can change during a vote during the annual meeting. The duties of the Senior Fellow include, but are not limited too;
- Attending the annual business meeting,
- Appointing new Fellows as need be,
- Writing for the Website.
3.) Fellows in the Center for the Society and Cyberstudies shall be granted this title by appointment from the director or by a majority of the Senior Fellows. There is no limit to the amount of people that can hold the title of Fellow. This number can change during a vote during the annual meeting. The duties of the Fellow include, but are not limited too;
- Attending the annual business meeting,
- Writing for the Website (as appointed by Senior Fellow(s) and/or the Director.
ARTICLE FOUR – MEETING
The annual membership meeting of this organization shall be held on and at the Saturday night of the Association of Internet Researcher Annual Conference. The Director will cause to be mailed to every member in good standing at his or her address as it appears in the membership roll book of this organization a notice telling the time and place of such annual meeting.
The presence of not less than three members will constitute a quorum and will be necessary to conduct the business of this organization; but a lesser number may adjourn the meeting for a period not more than 26 weeks from the date scheduled by these bylaws and the Director will cause a notice of this scheduled meeting to be sent to all those members who were not present at the meeting originally called. A quorum as hereinbefore set forth will be required at any adjourned meeting.
Special meetings of this organization may be called by the Director when he/she deems it for the best interest of the organization. Notice of such meetings will be mailed to all members at their addresses as they appear in the membership roll book at least but not more than 45 days before the date set for such special meeting.
ARTICLE FIVE – VOTING
At all meetings, except for the election of positions, all votes shall be viva voce.
All election votes shall be done by secret ballot with the results displayed to the members at attendance.
ARTICLE SIX – AMENDMENTS
These bylaws may be altered, amended, repealed or added to by an majority affirmative vote of not less than three members.
